The 6 Blogs of Christmas!

Staff at school regularly update their Blogs and have come up with a great idea to ensure children and parents access them. In December we will be running a '6 Blogs of Christmas' activity where 2 Blogs a week, over the next three weeks, will contain clues! For my Blog, I will insert a letter somewhere in the picture or text and children will be invited to collect all six letters and turn the anagram into a word that is in the title of a popular Christmas Carol. A recording slip will be in a plastic pouch outside my office for children to use to help them work out the word. Children can focus on just their own Class Blog or search through the other 5 Blogs too!
Happy Blogging!

Anti Bullying Week

In class and in whole school assemblies this week we have been sending out a strong message that bullying in any form will not be tolerated in our school and wider community. Children have been encouraged to be strong and speak to an adult if anyone is ‘putting them down’ or hurting them or their feelings and to be a ‘buddy’ not a bully. All children have been warned about the dangers of bullying on social network sites. If parents require further information, please visit;-

Special thanks goes to Mrs F who helped the children in Lotherton Class make up an anti-bullying song to the tune of American Pie which they performed in Assembly this afternoon. Look out for this being uploaded onto the blog this weekend!

Skipping Workshop in Gascoigne Class

We welcomed Chris back into school to hold another Skipping Workshop. The children learned a variety of skipping techniques such as ;- Pretzel, Double Bounce and Cross Over. They practised Speed Bouncing which was very tiring and running in, jumping and running out again. Teamwork and co-operation were in evidence throughout the session and the children had an amazing time and can't wait to perfect their skills further in the playground.

Time Traveller Topic in Lotherton Class

The children were really pleased to welcome Mr W into class this week to talk about life as a coal miner. The children have been learning about how our community has changed over the years. They have looked at our area and identified human and physical characteristics and key topological features.
Thank you Mr W!

Remembrance Day

Thank you, Mr Lowton, for taking Collective Worship with us this morning and helping us to remember those who have fought and died in wars and the sacrifice they made. Fewer and fewer people today have any direct experience of living through a war, but we know that there are still many families for whom this can be a very emotional occasion. We sat in silence at 11.00 a.m. in thought and prayer.

Grandad's War

                                                                     'Lest we forget'

Don't forget to visit AC Reynolds 'Grandad's War' exhibition at Vicar's Court over the weekend.

Everyone needs a little help from their friends!

A brilliant assembly was delivered by Ann, Tania and Mike this week! It was good to welcome the team from Dayspring Church into our school and reflect on what friends mean to us.
